Dora | Community Support Service Manager
For the last six years, Dora has worked for The Salvation Army leading a team at a local community support service providing practical assistance to people in crisis.
What do you do in your role at The Salvation Army?
I manage a local community support service where we support people with food parcels or food vouchers, case management, financial assistance or spiritual support.
What support do you provide at Christmas?
In December we support people in our community with Christmas hampers, presents for children and other Christmas stocking fillers. Our clients absolutely love this program. When they come in they’re able to choose the presents they’d like to take for their children and we find this choice helps them feel like they’re valued and have dignity.
Why do you do what you do for work?
I always wanted to work as part of an organisation that has people at its heart and so I love working with like-minded people who want the best for our communities.
I’m inspired every day by the courage and spirit our clients show in times of adversity.
